This breed comes from South Tyrol and is a mountain horse mainly used as a sturdy leisure horse for riding and for horse-drawn carriages.

Officially, the Haflinger belongs to the pony breeds or small horse breeds: they are very willing to perform, good-natured with strong nerves, as well as being sure-footed and versatile.
